IT’S RAINING-TEXT

Appu ate bananas. Appu likes bananas very much. He plucks and eats bananas from the trees every day. One day, he saw that the banana trees were drooping. It had not rained for a long time.

I must get water in my trunk – said Appu. He started walking towards the river. Appu drank water till he was happy. He bathed his body with his trunk.

Then he carried water in his trunk and poured it on the banana trees. As soon as the banana trees got water they came alive. Appu said – From now on I will get water for you everyday. After all, you also give me ripe and tasty bananas.

where do the plants growing around your house get water? Appu watered the banana tree. But elephants don’t water trees. Then, where do plants get water from? Plants mostly get water from rain. When it rains plants seem to get a new look.

Let us see why  plant need water……
Water is essential for the celluar function of  plant And for the process of photosynthesis. Most plants are terrestrial which means they live on land, and water is a relatively scarce. In order for a plant to survive, it must able to obtain water to distribute to all parts of plant cell, and then conserve the water with in the system.

When it is rainy all the rivers lakes, and ponds filled water.but when it is a sunny day. Water from river, and ponds lakes starts evaporate and rises up.

Sunlight causes water to evaporate into the atmosphere. This air containing the water vapor is heated at the surface of the earth and rises. As the air rises, it cools and the water vapor condenses on some form of particulate matter such as dust, ash, or smoke to form clouds.  The particulate matter are called Condensation.

So, what is a cloudIt is a thick mass of suspended water drops or ice crystals. What do clouds tell us?

The presence of clouds in the sky is one type of signal to meteorologists that there will be changes in the weather. Predicting the weather requires the understanding of the different types ofclouds.

To better communicate and understand the many cloud forms in the sky, meteorologists identify clouds based on five basic cloud characteristics:

The altitude at which they occur Color, Density, Shape, Degree of cover.
From this information, we can identify three basic cloud types and seven other common cloud type.

Clouds can be classified by some simple, but subjective, criteria that also provides information on the atmospheric conditions. One form of classification is based on appearance or form.

Using these characteristics you can identify the three basic cloud types: stratus, cirrus, and cumulus .

Stratus clouds are thin, sheet-like clouds.  They are layered with some rippling, and cover large portions of the sky.  They are frequently gray and thick.  Stratus clouds are formed when air is forced up slowly
Cirrus clouds are thin, white clouds  with a feathery appearance. They are the highest of all clouds forming at heights of 30,000 feet or more above the earth's surface. Cirrus clouds are formed by ice crystals.  They generally occur in fair weather and point in the direction of air movement at their elevation. Cirrus clouds are usually the first sign of an approaching storm.
Cumulus clouds are flat-based, billowing clouds with vertical doming. Often the top of cumulus clouds have a "cauliflower-like" appearance. Cumulus clouds are most prominent during the summer months. Cumulus or fluffy clouds form when air is forced up rapidly and therefore rises higher.

And keep making a lot of
noise ___________
Black are my feathers and
black is my _____.
kau-kau I do all day long
________.

Koohu-Koohu is my

Everywhere I am found,
My sweet voice gives me
fame,_____ is my name.
Dead animals I do eat,
Making places clean and
neat, High up in the ____ I fly,
Vulture is what I’m called
by.
My beak is very special,
I use it like a needle,
Stitching leaves I make
my home,
The _______ bird is how
I’m known.
In trunk of trees holes
I make,
Hidden insects I intake,
Tuk-tuk-tuk I work all day.
The woodpecker is what
people say.
Dear crow why is there so much noise in the jungle? I just cannot sleep.
Dear Owl, the birds are all praising themselves and shouting.
The owl said – Stop this hullabaloo. Why are you quarrelling? We are all special in our own ways. Our claws, beaks, feathers and sounds are different yet we are all birds. If we all looked alike, ate the same food and made the same sounds, think how dull the world would be.

Bird’s beaks are very important.  They help the bird collect the  food and sometimes they rip, tear, or crush food. They can act as an extra hand, such as when parrots use their beak for climbing.  They are used for building nests, and in some birds like tailor bird use their beak for  tie knots.
Thin and Pointed Beak
An acute beak is one that tapers to a fine point at the end. This type of beak is delicate, and can be found in many insect eating birds such as warblers.

Sharp and Curved Beak
Carnivorous birds like the hawk have curved beaks with a razor-sharp tip that helps them tear their prey into smaller parts, so as to make it easy to swallow.
Decurved beaks
A decurved bill is one that curves downward.  The creepers are one type of bird that have this type of beak. The curve helps them pulls insects out of the bark of trees.

Flat beak
Ducks have being aquatic birds, ducks have  flat beaks that help strain the water from the sides when they consume food which includes aquatic plants and animals.

Long beaks
A long beak is much longer than the head. This type of beak helps the bird grab food that might otherwise be out of reach. Woodcocks, for example, use their long beak to probe for worms in mud. Toucans use their long beak to pick fruit in trees. Herons use their long beak to catch fish.

Sharp and long beak
The shape of the beak is cylindrical in shape, it looks like a circle as you look straight at it.  This type of beak is found in the hummingbird family.
Just as birds have different types of beaks, they also eat different types of food. While some eat fruits, some eat seeds. Some eat eggs, while others eat fish.
Have you ever noticed that birds fly and walk in different ways. Their neck movements also differ. The mynah moves her neck back and forth with a jerk. The owl can rotate its neck backwards to a large extent.

There are some birds which can imitate our voice. The feathers of birds are of different colours, shapes and sizes. Their feathers help them to fly and keep them warm too.

SAYING WITHOUT SPEAKING-TEXT

Let us play a game. In this game, everyone has to let others know what they want to tell without speaking. Divide yourselves into groups of seven.

Your teacher will give each group a piece of paper with a situation written on it. Each group will read what is written on the paper and prepare a silent act. Keep in mind that you cannot speak. You can express through your face and body actions.

When all the groups are ready with their act, they have to perform one by one in front of the other groups. The others will have to guess what is being acted out.

The children are talking to each other through actions. Have you ever seen anyone talking through actions. Most of us can hear and speak, but there are some people who can neither hear nor speak.

These people talk through actions. They understand what the other person is saying by studying their lip-movements. All of us cannot do everything. Some of us sing well, others write good poetry. Some can climb trees quickly while others can run fast. Some can draw well, others can sing in tune.

We are all special in our own ways. Hence, in schools we can learn

from each other. Like all children, children who cannot speak and hear also go to school to read and write. In schools, sign language is taught to them.

Let us read about a child who cannot hear, yet, who can do

many things.
I have a sister, My sister cannot hear
I have a sister
My sister is deaf.
She is special.
There are not many sisters like mine.

My sister can play the piano.
She likes to feel the
deep rumbling chords.
But she will never be able to sing.
She cannot hear the tune.
She likes to leap, to tumble,
to roll, to climb to the top of
the monkey bars.
I wore my sunglasses yesterday.
The frames were very large.
The lenses are very black.
My sister made me take
them off when I spoke.
What do my brown eyes say
to her brown eyes?

Our eyes tell a lot small children tell a lot through their face and hands even before they learn to speak. They understand a lot too. By looking at someone’s face we can tell if the person is happy, sad or angry.

Has it ever happened that you had done some mischief and your mother found out just by looking at your face. We can talk through dance as well. In dance the hands and face are used to convey feelings. These are called mudras and bhavs.

FOODS WE EAT-TEXT

Did all the children in the class eat the same food items yesterday? Why? you feel  hungry when food is digested in our stomach  at that you feel to eat.
Let us talk about those things that we do eat. Put on the things that you eat often rice ,wheat ,barley oats, maize millet kappa (tapioca) ragi.
Most of our food is made of these things. We get food from plants and animals. Depending on what grows easily at which place, different things are eaten at different places. We not only eat different things but we also use the same things to prepare a variety of food items.
What is the real purpose of eating food?
Is it only taste or in any reasons behind it?
Food helps us to grow, to give energy, to be healthy. To Gr
There are  useful substances in food that provide you all these three are called  Nutrients.
They are different types nutrients are present in food we can also call them components of food Carbohydrates, Proteins, vitamins, fats, water and roughage.
Let us study some of the food items which are rich in carbohydrates.
Carbohydrates -Mainly provide energy to our body.
Ex: Rice:
 wheat:
 potato and sweat potato:
 maize and sugarcane:
Proteins are needed for the growth and repair of our body.
There are called Body building food.
Ex: Milk:
Egg,meat,fish:
pulses,beans:
Children some times if you are not eating food also you will get energy? How? Have you  know a type of food that store energy in our body? Let us study..
Fats stored food in our body. Excess of fat food contains –obesity.
Ex: Groundnuts, coconut oil, vegetable oil, olive oil, nuts

Who will protect our body from enemies? Do you know a type Nutritious food that protect our body from enemies.Vitamins and Minerals.
Vitamins help in protecting our body against diseases. They also keep our eyes, bones teeth and gums healthy.

Minerals are required in small amounts in our body. They are essential for proper growth of body and for maintaining good health.

So we need to have a little of all kinds of food every day to get all the Nutrients and roughage etc. This type of diet is called A balanced diet .A balanced diet should contains 50% carbohydrate,35%fats,12%protiens. 3%  vitamins & minerals and sufficient  amount of  water.

Thank You,
